His parent Subroto Basu and Deepshika Basu were award-winning theater artist. He grew up watching performances of his parents. he completed his schooling at BSP school in Chhattisgarh. later he admitted to the Jabalpur college of engineering. but after some time e left that college.
he received BSC in Physics degree from Mumbai University. and later admitted in FTIR, Pune. however, in his college days, he got an opportunity to assist in many tv and film project. after constantly involving in film project he became filmmaker and director.
When Basu was in his mid 20’s he began his career in the television industry. He started working as an assistant director in zee tv’s serial tara. Later Basu got breakthrough from the famous tv shows Kyon ki sass Bhi Bahu Thi, Kasauti. In 2001 he started his own company and started producing serial like the horror genre.
Basu’s first movie in Bollywood was Dallal which was starring John Abhram and Tara Sharma. His first movie commercially flopped? while Basu directed his second movie which was named as murder. Later he did many movies such as and life in a metro.
